Since then he has coached teams for the past 37 years in a variety of
sports. Football, flag football, soccer, volleyball, girls softball, baseball and basketball have been among them. Cohn has also coached at the high school level as a varsity head coach for 15 years. Currently he is the head girls basketball coach at North Shore Country Day High
School in Winnetka, Illinois.
In addition to coaching, Cohn has been involved in just about every area of youth sports.
He was an elementary school physical education teacher for 6 years, an Athletic Director for 5 years at the Glenview Park District, has officiated sports off and on for the past 30 years, conducted and
supervised sports leagues as an administrator, and has run coaching
clinics for youth coaches for a number of years. In addition he has
worked with the Special Olympics of Illinois as a volunteer for over 20
years. Cohn was one of the very first instructors for the ACEP coaching classes (American Coaching Effectiveness Program) which began with Rainer Martens at the University Of Illinois in the early 70's.
Finally, Cohn has also done radio and television work for the past 15 years and is currently a high school football and basketball announcer for Comcast Television in Chicago.
He has been married for 17 years and has two teenage sons, one who is still competing and one whose athletic career ended with 6th grade soccer (so he has experienced both levels of the youth sporting experience!)
The Youth Sport Fan Forum is his latest venture and one he is very much looking forward to!
